SCOTLAND’S most successful ski and snowboard freestyle competitions get under way in Aberdeen this weekend.
The Lowlander series, which is a prelude to the winter Highlander series in the new year, begins at the Aberdeen Snowsports Centre in Garthdee on Saturday.
The leading skiers and snowboarders in Scotland will be competing in several events and their overall scores will contribute to their Scottish freestyle rankings.
The Highlander and Lowlander series have this year been recognised by the World Snowboard Tour as one-star and two-star events.
This now adds these series into the world tour calendar for 2008-09 and gives each rider the opportunity to gain a world ranking.
There will be four Lowlander events, held on dry slopes, with Glasgow Ski centre to follow on November 21, Midlothian on December 5 and West of Scotland Ski Centre at Bearsden on January 23.
The Highlander series begins at the Nevis Range on March 13, followed by the Cairngorm on April 3.
